Review the Rhythm

Every song is made of different rhythms. Rhythm creates a sense of motion and our body can follow this motion and move along with it. It also makes a song much more interesting if it contains a variety of rhythms.


Below, we look at the rhythms Ta and  Ta-Di

Below, we look at the song "Apples, Peaches" using the rhythms you just reviewed. In the box, we have the rhythms written out.  Try reading the rhythms to "Apples, Peaches".

Next, we have the song "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star".  Sing through the song if you know it and then look below at the last line that is written a second time below the song.  

In the box, they give you the first two rhythms (Ta-Di Ta-Di) and the last two rhythms (Ta-Di Ta).  You are asked to decode or write out the rhythms in the middle.  You can use rhythms, syllables, or apples to show the signs.

Lets Review Rhymes!


Rhymes: words that sound similar to each other when you say or hear them. Rhymes are often pleasant to hear and sound like music when we say them. We learn a lot of rhymes when we are children through nursery rhymes. Rhyming helps us learn words and memorize songs. It is also often used in lyrics and raps.

Below you have three rows of pictures.  Read through each word below the pictures and see which of the three on the right rhymes with the word on the left.  Once you have figured out which word rhymes, circle it.  Feel free to color the pictures in after you have finished circling them!

In the box below, the song "Twinkle, Twinkle" is written.  You are asked to circle the words that rhyme in the song.  The first two rhyming words (star/are) are circled for you, complete the rhyming circles.
