College & Career Clubs (CCC) is a program that allows middle school students to lead one another, via peer to peer instruction and mentoring, through a two-year college and career exposure curriculum and field trip model. Nationwide, students who have participated in CCC are found to have higher short and long-term academic aspirations, improved attendance rates, and decreased behavior issues. We are currently piloting College & Career Clubs at Browne Education Campus. It is essential that we begin college and career programming during the middle grades. Programs like College & Career Clubs harness middle school students’ excitement around their post-high school dreams, and help them develop a better understanding of the concrete steps needed to make smart high school, college and career choices.
