Let me begin by saying how much I miss all of my 2nd-grade scholars. I am concerned about our students’ health and well-being, as well as their families. I am here to patiently support our students and you throughout this challenging time.  Please do not stress over the schoolwork via distance learning or printed packets. Frustrations are high due to our circumstances and I don’t want to increase the stress on our families. I am going to do my best to provide schoolwork to keep our students' minds moving forward. But you are the parents and they are with you, so you have control to adjust as needed for your child/children.  Again, contact me via email, call, or text and leave a message, if you need help. I also ask for your patience and understanding as we navigate this new territory together.

2^nd grade will be using Reading Wonders as our primary literacy solution during this time. Reading Wonders can be used on all devices; computers, tablets, and smartphones (iPhone and android). Amplify Reading and Epic Books are also available for 2nd grade to use at home. The games in Amplify Reading provide students with the opportunity to practice and build proficiency in literacy skills within an engaging story that rewards students for their efforts. Permítanme comenzar diciendo cuánto extraño a todos mis alumnos de segundo grado. Me preocupa la salud y el bienestar de nuestros estudiantes, así como de sus familias. Estoy aquí para apoyarlo pacientemente a usted y a nuestros estudiantes en este momento difícil. No se preocupe por el trabajo escolar a través del aprendizaje a distancia o paquetes impresos. Distance Learning April 20^th-April 24^th

This week 2nd-grade distance learning will be focusing on how the Earth changes. The books for this week are Into the Sea, Earthquakes, Volcanoes, Glaciers, and To the Rescue. We’ll explore what causes the different ways the Earth looks on its surface. Students will practice how to describe the connection between a series of historical events, scientific ideas or concepts, or steps in technical procedures in a text. Students will identify the causes and effects in a text. As well as determine or clarify the meaning of unknown and multiple-meaning words and phrases using different strategies.

Last week’s test will be available until Tuesday 8:00 pm
New online assignments and activities will be available beginning Tuesday morning.

Esta semana, el aprendizaje a distancia de segundo grado se centrará en cómo cambia la Tierra. Los libros de esta semana son Into the Sea, Earthquakes, Volcanoes, Glaciers y To the Rescue. In this mini-lesson, we review the rereading comprehension strategy. When students read an informational text, they may come across words, facts, or explanations they do not understand.
